Individuals
We as individuals face many daily challenges in our lives today which leads us to a state of uncertainty. I believe to find solutions to our problems, a slight shift in our worldview may be necessary to make sense of our world and how we see ourselves in it.
My intention is to walk alongside individuals who wish to explore how to thrive and gain a growth mindset to help navigate change, heal and grow from the past, and enjoy peace.
My work with individuals on the Autism Spectrum, and those with intellectual and development challenges has allowed me to walk alongside these individuals to help them process societal and family norms, to become active members of their families and communities and be seen, heard and understood.
Social media messages and isolation from friends and family have perpetuated a growth in anxiety and depression among many individuals. A reintroduction of coping skills and creating new habits for self-care to manage stress and tension in our lives is my focus with the use of Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Mindfulness.
Couples
We bring our past histories from childhood into our current relationships, which includes unresolved fears and insecurities. Our attraction to our partners is to resolve our past hurt or pain, and in the process of achieving resolution, we may present unusual behaviors to our partners.
My intention is to help couples understand and identify each of their emotional needs and effectively communicate with each other. With the exploration of communication strategies, couples are able to see each other’s perspectives and find their unique customized way to get their needs met with acceptance and compassion using Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.
Families
Family relationships can be both joyful and challenging, with changing dynamics and different perspectives from each individual in the family structure. When an individual encounters a problem and seeks change, they in turn change their family structure.
My life experience with individuals who have developmental and intellectual challenges has allowed me to step into families’ lives to help and actively navigate creative solutions.
My intention is to walk through pain and issues individuals within the family face, viewing the family as one big unit of interconnected moving parts, with the use of Strategic Family Therapy methods.
Children & Teens
Children are our gifts to the world. As they go through the various stages of growth, new discoveries are made which are both exciting and perplexing. I believe when children are unable to express their feelings to parents, the use of nonverbal communication becomes a great alternative to interpret and put words to children’s behaviors and feelings.
My intention is to help children discover their communication strengths through the expressive arts of Sandtray Therapy, Play and Art Therapy methods to empower them to use their optimal communication skills needed to express their feelings and process their emotions. I believe the ability to partner with parents is a vital element to help children grow emotionally.
Teens have many challenges with daily changing factors in our society and world today. My intention is to help teens identify and create their worldview, make a connection between their mind and body, and introduce coping skills to emotionally regulate and have cognitive control through Mindfulness practices. I also use psychoeducation methods to explain the neurobiology of the remarkable teen brain!
Groups
The group dynamic is a powerful and wonderful experience. Each group member witnesses change among each other, and shares a lived experience which brings them closer together and builds camaraderie.
My intention is for learning and support to happen during these group times. Here are some groups which will be offered during different times of the year for:
Anxiety
Autism Social Skills
Grief & Loss
